For deep drawn parts or those with complex curved geometries, our Deep Draw models use a punch cylinder (on which the tooling is attached) that extends upward during the bladder pressurization to draw the material into the bladder and form the part.

Deep Draw Sheet Hydroforming
For applications that require a controlled flow of the material, such as deep drawn parts or those with curved geometries which have the potential to wrinkle during the forming process, Triform Deep Draw presses are the ideal solution.
In the computer-controlled Deep Draw process, the downward-acting bladder primarily acts to hold the material during pressurization, as the tool is extended atop a hydraulic punch cylinder. This draws the material into the bladder and allows it to flow as needed.
Both the bladder pressure and punch position are tightly controlled (down to 1% of full scale and +/-0.002" respectively) using the Triform's advanced controls and hydraulics system. Through the multi-level recipe program (up to 30 steps), operators can make fast, accurate adjustments, greatly improving and accelerating the part development process.
Through a simple deactivation of the punch cylinder, a Triform Deep Draw press can quickly transform into a Fluid Cell model. Either configuration results in significantly increased capability and capacity in most facilities (and to a considerable decrease of the need for finishing hammers).
Thanks to our single tool technology, Triform hydroform presses can reduce tooling costs by 50% to 90% compared to conventional presses. There is no need for a mating die to the punch (male die), as the flexible rubber diaphragm in the machine acts as a universal female. Triform tooling is easily manufactured from standard, inexpensive materials and typically has a longer life than conventional press tooling, due to the steady, uniform pressure applied during the Triform process.
Tools made on Fortus 3D Production Systems are ideal for Fluid Cell Hydroforming. Fast throughput tooling on Fortus is produced at a fraction of the cost of traditional tools.
